What do the terms on my pay slip mean?
1. Legal minimum wage
This is the minimum gross hourly wage that must be paid by law, based on a 40-hour working week. The amount of this wage varies depending on your age.
2. Payroll tax credit
Payroll tax credit, what exactly does that mean? It is a reduction that ensures that you do not have to pay tax on a certain part of your salary. In other words: more money for you at the end of the month!
You can only apply the payroll tax credit to one employer. So, you work part-time via FlexToday, but also at another company? Then you can only receive a payroll tax credit with one of the two. Would you rather have your payroll tax credit for your other job afterwards? You can easily adjust this by contacting your contact person within FlexToday.
If you have multiple jobs via FlexToday, you get a payroll tax credit for all jobs. This is because FlexToday is considered as one employer.
3. Wages
Please note that the example of the wage specification is used in the text below.
Here you will find information about exactly how much you get paid and for what. You can see here what your 100% salary is. Suppose you work in shifts, as in our example. You worked a total of 41 hours. Of those 41 hours, 40 hours are at a rate of 112,50% due to the shift allowance. In addition, you have worked 1 hour of overtime, for which you receive a 175% allowance.
How do you calculate your total salary? This can be done with a simple calculation. Take your 100% salary, let's use the example salary specification:
- €14,71: 100 = €0,1471. Multiply this amount by 112,50%: € 0,1471 x 112,50% = € 16,54.
- Or you can also directly multiply your 100% salary by 1,125: € 14,71 x 1,125 = € 16,54.
Choose the way that is easiest for you!
4. Compensation PAWW
Private Supplement WW and WGA, or PAWW, will be mandatory for all temporary workers from August 1, 2022. But why should I contribute to PAWW? This scheme has been set up to ensure that you can continue to receive unemployment benefits if you become unemployed. The personal contribution for this is 0,2% of your gross salary.
This is necessary because the duration of unemployment benefits is now more limited. However, thanks to the PAWW scheme, you can still benefit from unemployment benefits for longer in the event of unemployment or disability.
For more information about this, please visit this page.
5. AZV premium
The AZV premium is something new that will apply from July 2023. The AZV has to do with additional insurance for health insurance costs in accordance with the agreements in our collective labor agreement.
6. Payroll taxes
“Payroll taxes (week white)” and “Payroll taxes (special rewards white)” are two types of taxes that are withheld from your salary.
- Payroll taxes (white week): This concerns the taxes that are withheld from your regular salary when you are normally working. It usually includes taxes and national insurance contributions, such as the AOW and the Anw.
- Payroll taxes (white special rewards): This concerns the taxes that are deducted from special extras you receive, such as holiday pay, bonuses or overtime. These taxes may be calculated differently than those for your regular salary. Sometimes this means that you pay a higher tax rate because you have received extra income.
So, “week white” is about your normal salary, while “special rewards white” is about perks or bonuses that you get on top of your normal salary.
You can view the table for the weekly wage before payroll tax and national insurance contributions here find.
7.1 Travel costs to/from work
At FlexToday we offer a travel allowance, provided this falls within the customer's employment conditions. You usually receive a travel allowance from a certain number of kilometers. This rate is determined on the basis of the customer's employment conditions, the customer's own regulations or the leading collective labor agreement. You can also find more information about this by here to click.
7.2 Health insurance
At FlexToday we offer you, as a temporary worker, health insurance as a service. Our health insurer is HollandZorg. We want to ensure that you comply with Dutch law, which requires everyone to have health insurance.
We have basic health insurance available for you, which costs €35,56 per week (these are the costs of health insurance). You can decide whether you arrange this or whether we do it for you. It will cost you less work and you can get started right away.
Tip: Do you already have your own health insurance? No problem, then you don't have to take out a new one.
Do you live in Germany and are you already insured there? Please let us know. This way we can ensure that you do not have double costs – once in Germany and once in the Netherlands. You can find more information about this here.
Nice to know: you are entitled to healthcare allowance. This means that the government helps you pay for your health insurance. In 2024 you can receive healthcare allowance if your annual income does not exceed € 37.496. The exact amount of allowance you receive depends on your income. The maximum amount in 2024 is €123.
8.1 Holidays and holiday pay
Every hour you work, you automatically build up 8,33% of your gross salary in holiday pay. Your holiday pay will be paid out at the end of May or four weeks after leaving employment.
You can take holiday hours yourself if, for example, you want a paid day off. The holiday pay is paid at the end of May; you don't have to do anything for that. Because we work with several companies that fall under the metal and technology collective labor agreement, you may have extra ADV days, i.e. extra days off. This varies per collective labor agreement!
Please note: you do not accrue holiday pay on overtime.
Did you know: unfortunately, more tax is withheld from your holiday pay than from your regular gross salary.
8.2 An ORT reservation?
It is possible that there is an ORT reservation on your wage specification. But what does this actually mean? An ORT reservation is intended for people who receive, for example, shift allowance. A reservation is made separately for them, so that when you go on holiday, you do not suddenly receive less pay.
Normally you receive a shift allowance for the hours you work. However, when you go on holiday, you only receive 100% of your salary instead of, for example, the 112,5% you are used to. With this reservation you will never be shortchanged, even during your holiday!
9. Pension Plus
Extensive information is available about building up a pension FlexToday, you can here find.
10. Statutory and non-statutory vacation days
Let's start with the statutory holidays:
These are determined by Dutch law and to which you are entitled as an employee. How are these calculated? You can calculate this by taking four times the number of hours you work (on average) per week. Suppose you work 40 hours a week. Then you are entitled to 4 x 40 hours = 160 holiday hours, which means that you are entitled to 20 statutory holiday days per year.
Did you know it obligated is to take your statutory vacation days?
But what are extra-statutory holidays?:
These are vacation days that you accrue on top of your statutory vacation days. So for example, if the company where you work has a certain collective labor agreement that gives you more vacation days, this will fall under extra-statutory vacation days.
